Let me know what your results are, and if there are other specific settings where you get fizz. To me it sounded like a Marshall stack in a different room mic'd up, with me monitoring on headphones.quite convincing. I hear zero fizz in that tone, even letting the notes decay all the way to silence sounded as smooth as could be. I'm suggesting that as a test because those are the settings I arrived at on my first day with the Iridium that made my jaw drop. Input Level set to Instrument (page 16). Both Amp and Cab processing enabled (page 15 in the PDF manual). I say this because someone could have bought that unit, made changes, then returned it. While it does accomplish this, it still feels like it has the same shortcomings of just using a plugin, but with a more amp-like feel and Strymon tech.Įven if you bought it brand new, hook it up to the software editor and make sure all settings are default, just in case. I primarily wanted the Iridium to be able to use my larger pedalboard, no fiddling with software amp sims and weighing down Logic with sim plugins and just for overall ease of being able to play guitar without needing an amp all the time. I guess I can't say yet that this is a make or break, as I want to play with it again at least 2-3 more days before making my decision on keeping it or returning - but is this the majority of everyone's experience and the give and take between the mobility and flexibility of amp modelers? While it helped a little bit, it makes no real audible difference when running single coils. I also used the software to dial back -3db on the treble for each of the cabs in the Chime. I experienced the same fizz when diming the Chime amp gain (I love the way this sounds btw), or leaving the gain at noon and running a drive into it pre (Sick As, 1981 DRV). Is this just the the byproduct of digital modeling goes when it comes to high gain? I feel if you're playing constantly, it's find and sounds very punchy and thick, but as soon as you let notes linger and die out, it eventually turns into the same digital messy fade out that occurs when using software sims. While it does sound great clean, I am still experiencing that same dying fizzy sound when running higher drive tones and letting notes sustain - the same sound I get when running similar setups through Bias, etc. The feel and response is definitely above anything I've played as far as other sims, including Two Notes Cab M, Bias and Slate softwares and UA amp sims. I ran it by itself and then at the end of my board in stereo with the Round and Chime amps w/ gain at noon, so more on the clean side as a platform. The one issue I can foresee is of the 3 or 4 flat powered speakers that I’ve tried, they have all sounded better with a line level signal over an instrument level. In the manual there is a picture of the Iridium plugging directly into powered speakers without need for DI. ![]() With Iridium, there are no menus to wade through-just familiar, responsive amp-style controls for instant, easy adjustment.Hey all, just got my Iridium in last night after waiting to see the feedback from the initial launch and decided to pull the trigger.
